Cyclone Alfred, a Category 2 storm, is approaching the heavily populated eastern coast of Australia, expected to make landfall Saturday between the Sunshine Coast and Gold Coast, potentially impacting Brisbane. As of Friday, March 7, 2025, 80,000 homes were already without power due to destructive winds. Over 4 million people are in the cyclone's path, with the storm located 125 km east of Brisbane Friday afternoon. It is the first cyclone to hit the area since 1974.
